Simply Primitives Update

Simply Primitives has updated for the 15th! If you haven't had a chance to check it out, please hop on over and see what everyone has to offer.

My offering for this month was a pillow adapted from a Maggie Bononomi design which is on its way to Connie in Illinois. Thanks, Connie! Between trying to keep up with the dust from our remodeling project and goings on at work my crafting time has been limited for the past month. I hope to be able to reclaim my craft room in another week or so, though!

Last Saturday I spent time with 450 church friends packaging Meals of Hope for Malawi, Africa. This well organized event was put on by a group from Arkansas. Due to a drought in Africa many will be facing starvation and hopefully these meals and others that will be packed and shipped will help avoid this tragedy.

There's so many wonderful patterns available for fall and Halloween that it's hard to choose what to do next. Thanks to Jan Goos, Brenda Gervais and Pineberry Lane for these designs.

Here's the goodies I found at the Old Summit Antique show last weekend.

Bittersweet from Jenny to add to my dried gourds. I hope the cats don't discover this! Jenny's extension agent said the bittersweet grown here isn't toxic to pets but I don't want to test that statement.

 I'm so happy I grabbed this at the first vendor's booth! I have several document boxes but none with floral stenciling.

I bought this for the wonderful frame, but the farm scene from an old plat book is pretty charming. If you click on the photo you can see the details in the print, including a mom pushing her baby buggy across the field!

Simply Primitives Sneak Peak

We finally got a break in the heat wave here in Kansas! I couldn't wait to open the windows again and get some fresh air in the house. The drought continues, though, and it's taken a toll on lawns, trees and bushes. I'm sure we'll have to replace several bushes this fall. While we enjoy these nice, cooler summer days, though, I'm thinking ahead to fall and have been working on a couple of seasonal things for Simply Primitives. Here's a sneak peak of a penny rug I'll be offering. 

I'm also working on a witch-cat make-do thingy and thinking it's about time for another giveaway, so stay tuned.

Simply Primitives Time!

I am really drawn to gardening designs this month. Here's the items I'm offering for sale on this month's Simply Primitives.

I have three little pillows, all made from JoAnn Mulally designs. They're wool applique backed with coordinating quilt fabric and edged with hand dyed chenille.

And here's the Strawberry Trio mat from a Primitive Gatherings design. I gave a close-up peek at this in a previous posting. I love the color of the strawberries. I tend to buy brownish-red wool so I had to look for some that had more of a strawberry color and I'm happy with what I found!


I will be busily stitching away this summer. Out of the blue I received a call from the organizer of Handcrafters, a wonderful local show. This is one of those shows where people are lined up to get in the door and the vendors are closely screened to make sure they're offering truly hand crafted items. I'm really excited about this opportunity, but it will mean cranking up the production schedule and switching my focus from the garden to fall and Christmas. Hmmm, maybe a gardening witch?
