Grateful

I am so happy I like in a part of the country that experiences four seasons. Yesterday was a perfect fall day and, as DH went to the Chief's game with friends from work, I took the opportunity to drive and walk around a bit and enjoy the height of fall color.
I was glad to come upon this hedge apple (also called Osage Orange) tree in a nearby park and collect several of the lumpy fruits. Do you have these in your area? They are supposed to repel spiders but I like them because they have a wonderful spicy smell and collected several to keep in my craft room to enjoy over the winter.
I've also seen them painted white like snowballs and loved that idea too. Enjoy this beautiful season!

beautiful photos, we have them here but not close to the house. it's been awhile since I saw one. it is said the wood from the trees make the best bows for shooting arrows, the Indians used to use them to make long bows!

There is a tree in our neighborhood that has these "fruits". I didn't know they have a spicey smell.
They are wonderful to look at with their gorgeous color and texture !
Might have to see if I can pick up a few 'drops'. ;)

Beautiful time of year! I wonder if those hedge apples really chase away spiders... I've been "relocating" spiders quite a bit since the weather turned cooler...
