Weekend Work

Seems like the summer weather is finally settling in here and I'm focusing on summer themed items as I craft. Here's a peek at the wool runner I'll be offering on the next Simply Primitives. I enjoyed stitching the little curlicue vines!
I spent some time in the garden, planting flowers and rearranging plants. The hostas next to the house thrive while those in the back of the yard suffer from too much sun and rabbit invasions, so we moved them to hopefully safer and more suitable ground.
Rabbit Fodder

Hostas seem to take moving and dividing really well. A couple of these plants even came from a yard sale! As I've mentioned before, I'm a big fan of foilage plants and I think the hosta's various shades of green and variegated foilage mix well together and have a peaceful, calming feeling, so what could go better than an angel birdfeeder, also in green.

Roberta ... I know I've said this before but I really like your wool applique! This is a craft I have never tried but it looks like it would be so pleasant to do. Love your hostas & had to laugh when you said they take moving & dividing really well. They take attempted murder really well too! When we moved here, this house had several HUGE hostas in a very neglected garden against the back of the house. They never looked nice ... the leaves were always full of holes from the grasshoppers feeding on them. In the fall I dumped a bunch of Roundup on them thinking that would get rid of them once & for all. They dried up & turned brown but they ended up having the last laugh. The next spring they came up as big & bushy as ever! I dug out 2 of them a couple weeks ago & threw them into a bin with sod & other things John was going to dump on the back of our land. Went back there the other day, they are thriving ... lol!

Hi Roberta~

I love that strawberry runner! I keep looking at the pattern & telling myself I should make it, but I haven't yet. I think I have too many other projects in the works.

Have a wonderful day~Becky

I adore the hosta, too. Such a hardy, yet beautiful filler for any place.

My sister lives in Olathe. Are you close to there?

Hi Roberta, Just found your blog and have become your newest follower. Love the wool runner. Have never tried my hand at these but love them. The giveaway you had was a great one. Blogger was a mess and I couldn't enter but didn't give up and today was able to become a follower. Looking forward to visiting often. Love the hostas. We have some in the side yard and I would love them out front but Mr.P says they would get too much sun. Would love for you to visit Thru Nanas Window when you want to just sit and chat. Have a great evening.
