New Year's Resolution

Son and I were running errands this evening and he asked me if I made any New Year's Resolutions. "Yes", I said "I plan to do more online shopping this year." He laughed and I admit that, on the face, it may seem like a rather frivolous resolution. But I'm always trying to find ways to save time and I think I'd save a lot of time if I don't have to drive somewhere and park and then walk around looking for whatever I'm looking for but in the meantime get distracted by something that's on sale or just plain appealing. And on a more serious note, I hope to frequent some of the talented artisans I've met online and be a better friend to small businesses. I know it has meant a lot to me over the years to have the support of customers across the country. Are you a resolution maker?

We got a good dusting of snow and a blast of cold here yesterday, so we all stayed indoors and attended to various projects. In addition to taking down the tree and putting most of the Christmas decor away I  assembled a long botanical penny rug and I'm off to stitch away.

You're so right...shopping online can save you time. It was nice to go out today and the Christmas crowd was gone. ahh! Parking was actually okay today.

Your wool piece is stunning....enjoy your stitching time.

Loved your wool project. My resolution was to buy more (paper) books instead of reading so many ebooks.

And oh, to shed half my body weight obviously :)

A very happy new year to you!

Ooooh! I absolutely love that penny rug! Great colors and design! I shop online quite a bit as needlework and wool shops are not near my home. I'd say the closest is about an hour or so away? Once I get to where I'm going... the store usually does not have what I needed anyway. For instance... I went to a well known pet store for crushed walnut shells (for lizard beds, but I use for pinkeeps) and some cedar shavings (for hamster cages, but I use for sachets) and BOTH items were out of stock... so... I drove back home and ordered some online...

Really love your newest project - what a great way to start the New Year. I don't like to shop either (unless it is for quilty stuff!) and try to shop online as much as possible. Also am trying very hard to support small business as well. For Christmas I got my husband a gift card for home cooked meals from a wonderful local cook. You just call her in the morning, and you can pick up your meal on the way home! And of course, it's a gift for me too - no cooking!

I love your runner, gorgeous design and colors.

Seems everyone wants this runner design! It IS gorgeous. Make sure to post it finished so we can see. Ya know, I never thought of shopping online as avoiding extra spending? Good point! ( unless spending more gets you free shipping! Haha)
